All About Lists
Lists are the main organization tool in Actions, helping you categorize and group the Action Cards that are similar in project, duration, and more. With proper utilization of Lists, you’ll create your own comprehensive version of the work you’re doing.
In short, Lists are like tags – when one or more tasks are relevant to, for example, “Vacation” or “School,” you’ll add an Action Card to those Lists. Actions will then show you your tasks in the Lists screen, as well as a color-coded Action Card in the Schedule and Logbook sections.
Creating a List
To create a List, tap the Listicon at the bottom of the screen and tap the white rectangle containing . After typing in the name of the List, you’ll then choose a color of the List, which will be displayed as the List’s background and the color of each of that List’s Action Cards.
Actions on the iPad displays Lists by default
Once you have created multiple Lists, it’s important to remember that the creation card is always to the right of the last List you created – simply swipe horizontally until you reach the blank box.
Adding Action Cards to Lists
From any of Actions’ main screens – Logbook, Schedule, or Lists – you have an easy way to add Action Cards to a particular List.
- In Logbook and Schedule, tap the icon at the top of the screen, type in a title, and tap “Choose List” below the Action Card. Select the relevant List and tap the icon to save the Action Card
- In Lists, tap the appropriate List to enter fullscreen mode. On iOS, tap the blank Action Card – found at the bottom of the List – and type in the Action Card’s title. On the Android version of Actions, tap the add button at the bottom of the screen.
Action Cards can also be assigned to Lists by dragging them from Schedule to Lists. To do so, tap and hold on an Action Card until a shadow appears beneath the card. Then, with another finger, tap the Lists How to Use Gestures.icon and drop the Card onto a List. In Actions for iPad, we’ve streamlined this even more – just drag a Card from one side of the screen to the other. For more information on gestures, read
Note: At this time, drag and drop functionality between Lists, Schedule, or Logbook is exclusive to the iOS version.
Moving Action Cards from Lists to Schedule
By default, Action Cards created in the Lists panel are not given an assigned due date. As such, these tasks can be moved from Lists to Schedule while still retaining their categorization under the List. This is done by:
- Tapping and holding on an Action Card until a shadow appears beneath the card
- Dragging the card to the bottom of the screen
- Tapping the icon at the bottom of the screen with a separate finger
- Dropping the Card on the relevant day
You can also tap an Action Card in the List panel to change its Schedule date. To read more about Action Cards, check out All About Action Cards.
Moving Cards from List to List
Action Cards can also be moved from List to List following similar steps found in the above section. After you tap and hold on a Card and drag it to the bottom of the screen, will appear; to move the Card, swipe to another List and remove your finger from the screen to drop it.
The Lists you create today may not be the Lists that stay tomorrow. For the instances when you need to make a change to a List, you have multiple options.

To edit the title of a List, tap into fullscreen mode and tap the current title of your List. Type in the new name and tap anywhere on the screen to save.
To delete a List in iOS, tap and hold on the List card until you see the “Drag here to delete” prompt at the bottom of the screen. Drag the card to this zone and remove your finger from the screen. On Android, you can tap the icon at the lower right of the display and tap the delete icon at the top left of a List to delete it.
